Jacqueline was interested in improving her smile but she was not interested in a glamorous overly bright smile. Jacqueline had 2 caps on her front teeth that were unsuccessfully re-made several times to match her existing smile. The caps never looked right and were quite apparent that it did not match. What were overlooked in Jacqueline's smile were the harmony of the smile line and the asymmetrical proportions of her teeth. Also one of Jacqueline's front teeth was in cross-bite with the bottom (lower tooth was overlapping the top tooth). The other correction that had to be made was the dark corners of Jacqueline's smile. This situation happens in 2 circumstances: 1) dark silver fillings 2) teeth that are tipped inwards towards the palate as opposed to the cheek. We were able to accomplish what Jacqueline desired in a few steps. 1st we had to correct the gum line to a a more symmetrical level. 2nd, the whole upper jaw was restored with a combination of porcelain laminates and crowns and onlays.

Jon had visited our office few years back, trying to find out what his options would be to improve his smile. Jon has congenitally missing teeth( certain adult teeth never formed). Eventually, the adjacent teeth next to the missing one drifted out of position. Another problem we encountered was that one of the lateral teeth was formed as a peg lateral which means that the tooth is very tiny. All of this combined gives you quite a bit of gaps forming between teeth. When Jon met us a few years ago we recommended braces to move them in the correct position first and then placing veneers. The second time Jon met us he mentioned he would not be interested in braces and wanted to know what would be the alternative. After further analysis we were able to come up with a plan that would not compromise esthetics and function without doing braces. We were able to place venners with a combination of porcelain bridge.

Ellen wanted to improve the appearance of her smile but wasn't sure if bleaching would be the only solution. Years back Ellen had crowns placed on a few teeth that always showed a black line around it and silver/mercury fillings that were greying her teeth. Silver fillings after about 7 years can darken the teeth especially when they are too large. The first thing we had to correct for Ellen was the excessive gummy look. What we did was lift the gum line to create symmetry and harmony. Once we were happy with the gum levels we replaced the existing caps and silver fillings with porcelain and placed porcelain veneers on the front teeth.

Walid was very concerned about his lower front teeth. His teeth were getting extremely crooked and overlapped one another. Although his upper teeth and smile looked great he felt that at age 30 he didn't want to have such bunched up teeth on the bottom jaw and was concerned that this might lead to worse problems. Walid's smile does not reveal any of his bottom teeth but it does in speech. This very common occurrence does affect the bottom lower teeth. The major issues with teeth that are bunched up and crooked are; they tend to trap plaque and are difficult to clean which may eventually lead to cavities and gum disease and possibly cause the upper teeth to misalign. For Walid we recommended INVISALIGN to straighten the teeth and cosmetic bonding to rebuild the broken down edges of the lower front teeth. We were able to complete this in a matter of 5 months. Finally, to prevent recurrence we placed a permanent retainer to maintain the position of these teeth

Lynda's modeling career was not blossoming as she had hoped it would. When Lynda came for a smile makeover consult she mentioned that in all her photos she barely smiled. Needless to say she was quite fed up and wanted a drastic change. Lynda had some bonding done previously that had darkened and her front teeth were sticking down and all her teeth had differing shapes and completly asymmetrical. Also, Lynda's gum line was uneven which made her teeth look even more asymmetrical. Lynda's treatment consisted of repositioning her teeth with orthodontic movement so they don't hang down on her smile. Then Lynda's gums were recontoured with laser. Finally, 12 laminates were placed on her upper teeth. Lynda's treatment took longer than most smile makeover's due to the fact that her teeth had to initially be repositioned properly for a successful outcome. Lynda was extremly ecstatic "I am so unbeleivably happy,I never thought this was possible and it was worth the wait."

Rosa's smile makeover was rather unique. Due to her grinding habits her bite had started to collapse. She had dental work that was done at different times in her life. As a consequence, one of the issues that had to be addressed was the fact that all the porcelain work that was done in the past did not match. It was simply a patchwork of different shades. Our plan for Rosa consisted of re-establishing how her teeth meet each other at a more favorable position. This allows us to achieve a better interdigitation of teeth for a balanced biting position. Since her teeth had worn away and looked too small for her features we created larger, more ideal sized teeth to improve the overall esthetics. We did all this with a combination of caps and veneers on all her upper teeth. Rosa's lower front teeth were also severely worn. We placed 10 porcelain veneers on the lower teeth.

When KJ was a child she had a bicycle accident that knocked out her front tooth. Nothing was done as a final replacement of the tooth since she was young and had not completed the growth phase of her skeletal structures. For a long time KJ was just wearing a removable replacement tooth and slowly the space closed and there wasn't enough room for a correct size tooth. After a thorogh smile evaluation, we completed a diagnostic waxup of the teeth on the models to preview the final result. This also serves as the blueprint guide for the final aesthetic outcome. The treatment for KJ consisted of a combination of porcelain laminates and caps. Anytime the smile makeover consists of a combination of Caps/Laminates and also realignment of the smile to gain harmony and symmetry a high level of comlexity is introduced to the process. KJ's comment at the end was " Wow, I would have never believed it could look this good,I am really happy".

Bijan was interested in a smile makeover. Bijan had congenitally missing front lateral incisors which created numerous gaps on his front teeth. Previous attempts to correct this problem were to fill the gaps with plastic bonding, which constantly discolored and never satisfactorily addressed the underlying problem. He mentioned" My teeth look like they have extensions hanging from it and they look very fake". The problem was corrected with 8 porcelain laminates. We were able to distribute the spacing more evenly and create a more natural looking smile.

Yael never liked her smile, she mentioned that it always made her self conscience. She always held her smile back in public situations. One other problem that we discovered in Yael's smile evaluation was that she had a cross bite in the back. The crossbite contributed to the collapsed arch ,where she was not able to reveal some of the back teeth in her smile. What we did for Yael was twofold. 1) we opened up her crossbite with invisalign first and then placed porcelain laminates to give her a fuller look and fill her arch nicely. Now when she smiles she reveals almost all of her upper teeth back to the molars.

Brandie never liked her smile. With an outgoing personality and a cheerful disposition; her smile held her back. Brandie's upper jaw is very narrow which gave her a rabbit look, protruding her front teeth too far forward. Brandie also has hypocalcification of her teeth. This is a condition that affects the hard outer covering of teeth (enamel) making them porous and opaque in color. Also, the enamel surface is more prone to fracturing and rapid wear. A porcelain veneer is an excellent option since it protects the enamel from further breakdown. For Brandie we decided to place 8 veneers on the top and 8 veneers on the bottom to expand her arch and permanently brighten them. In the future Brandie would like to add 2 more veneers to the upper to fill and expand her smile. Brandie was so ecstatic with the outcome that her comment was, "had I known what my smile could look like I would have taken 3 jobs so I could have this done years ago".

Eileen explained to us that she had braces as an adolescent and had a bonded retainer in order to maintain what was achieved. Subsequently, her bonded retainer broke and was never replaced which had resulted in the spacing between her upper 2 front teeth. One of Eileen's front teeth had darkened severely due to previous trauma to her mouth causing that tooth to devitalize. The other problem that needed to be corrected was the uneven gumline, especially in the 2 teeth adjacent to the front two. What we were able to accomplish for Eileen was to realign her gum levels with the laser and placed laminates to fill in the space and create better proportions of teeth for her feature.

When Erika came to our office she had no desire to change her smile. After a year or two she became more inquisitive since she had known several of our cosmetic makeover clients and seen the changes that it made in their lives. Erika finally made her decision to do somthing about her smile. Interestingly, she arrived at this decision when a close acquaintance made an unflattering remark about her smile. Erika's smile makeover was accomplished purely with clear braces in less than 1 year. We felt that Erika's teeth were beautiful and needed to be repositioned properly and whitened.

Ron had been considering a smile makeover for the past 3 years. However, he never seemed to find the time to do it. See, Ron is your typical successful and overworked CEO of an investment management company. The stress of Ron's career has also left a toll on his teeth. What usually starts to happen is that teeth get worn down and shorten and eventually in full smile less teeth are visible. Ultimately, teeth can lose so much of their enamel and possibly the underlying dentin layer that very minimal teeth would show in smiling. This can make a young smile look very old fast. Ron had lost a significant amount of his teeth due to grinding which also, resulted in interference with his normal jaw function and movements. What we planned for Ron was to rebuild the lost enamel surfaces with porcelain veneers on the top and bottom teeth. We were able to successfully rebuild Ron's smile to a more vibrant and youthful appearance.

Stephanie had visited other cosmetic dentists but felt the makeover proposed was too aggressive. Stephanie actually has very nice teeth but what was distracting and unpleasant in her smile was the gummy look. Stephanie did not need to have all her teeth veneered however her gum line needed to be leveled out to reduce the impact of a gummy look. We laser lifted the gum line to make her teeth proportional to her long facial features and placed 2 veneers on her front teeth.
